BodyBugg!

Today I am thankful that my mom has decided to let me have my BodyBugg back.  I had been letting her borrow it so that she could try it out and she has decided that she wants to try another product.  Guess what else?  She bought a subscription to the online service, so I get the remainder of that as well!  An early Christmas present, and I am very excited.

If you have been following my blog for a while,  you may remember when I posted about this product before.  If not, you can go read it here:
http://danidoit.blogspot.com/2010/07/bodybugg.html

While this tool isn't necessary to help me lose weight, it is a BIG help for me.  I'm looking forward to shedding some pounds in the new year (I won't see her to be able to get it until Christmas) but until then, it's my goal to lose at least 5 pounds before I get it.  I want to start off on fire!

Anyone else trying to lose weight?  Don't wait until the New Year, start now so that you will "behave" during the holidays.  Allow yourself some indulgence, but do it with just a bite here or a sip there of those favorite "naughty" foods.  Then you will feel "nice".  And isn't it fun to be both naughty and nice?

Woo hoo BODYBUGG!!! :)

(thanks Mom) :)

Ack! So busy!

Yesterday I was thankful that I was so busy from a job that I love and I feel very lucky to have.

Today I am thankful I have a little more time and can tell you about my week last week!

We have had a crazy couple of days.  My house is a MESS.  But I will get to it later.  It's more important to spend time with friends and family then worry about how clean or messy your home is.  I'm trying to keep up, but I felt like the house was just destroyed after Thanksgiving.  It really wasn't, but in my neat freak, weird world, it was DESTROYED.

Ever have toddlers and kids visit?  This was my first real experience with it.  They were generally very well behaved, but at one point when everyone was downstairs eating, I went upstairs..

To find my kitchen floor was covered from one end to the other with toys.  Toys that I hadn't meant to let the kids play with.  All.  Over.  The.  Place.

Lucky for me, I walked into Zoe's room, and I found my 5 year old niece Eliza.  She was a good girl and cleaned up all the toys for me. Phew!  I had my hands full with Zoe at the time, so I appreciated the help.  I didn't want everyone to come upstairs to find the toys all over the place.  I didn't want any of them to break.

I still need to put away all the toys that the kids played with...

So why haven't I cleaned up yet?  Well, I have had a lot going on.  We had a family member pass away, so on Friday I went to Maine and came home last Saturday afternoon.  Then I immediately had to go out to shop for Anthony's cousin's baby shower.  Then Sunday was the baby shower.  But in between all that, I did Black Friday shopping with my sister-in-law on Thursday night, until 3am.  On Saturday night we got a phone call that a friend of ours needed help.  He had hit a deer and his car was likely totaled.  So Anthony went to get him.  And then I forgot that Anthony was having people over on Sunday.  So lots and lots of guests, some unexpectedly spending the night and it was all I could do just to keep up with washing sheets and towels for everyone.

So the house still needs cleaning.  I'll get to it maybe this weekend.  My dad is still in town, I have boot camp tonight, and well, I would rather spend time with my Dad then clean.

Fun right? :)  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I'll find time to unwind later this week.  And after my house is clean.

Saturday and Sunday Thankful.

On Saturday I was thankful for my sister giving me a ride home and saving me from having to drive myself.  It was an hour out of her way to do that for me, and it was super nice.  It gave me the chance to ride with my Dad on Friday as well, so he didn't have to drive by himself.

Today, Sunday, I am thankful for joyous occasions like Baby Showers!  I went to Anthony's cousin's baby shower today and it was nice to see some of his extended family (and of course my very nice in-laws!).  It was great to see people have fun interacting with Zoe.  My husband has a really great family. :)

Tomorrow I will write more about my whole weekend.....I'm so tired!!!

Too busy yesterday to post!

On Thanksgiving Day I am thankful for wonderful in-laws who keep the holidays bustling and happy!

Today I am thankful that I was so busy and had so much work to do yesterday, that I didn't get to sit down for more than 5 minutes and I didn't gain a single pound. :)

Happy Pre-Thanksgiving everyone...

All month long on other blogs and facebook posts and all over the web, people have been writing down something they are thankful for each day.  I like this idea.  I have also gotten a few great quotes from some of these people as well.

So....in the spirit of Thanksgiving, starting tomorrow, I am going to post what I am thankful for each day until the end of the year.  If I skip a day (like the weekend) I'll make up for it.  To quote someone else (I forget who, sorry!):  Let's be thankful before we get merry!

I am going to be thankful and merry at the same time.  My "official" start for the Holiday season starts with Thanksgiving.  That is when I like to start listening to Christmas music, put up the decorations etc.  It will REALLY start for me tomorrow because my nieces and nephew are coming over and they get to open their Christmas presents early because I won't see them on Christmas.  I love watching kids open presents! What fun!

I will try to remember to get online and post my first "I'm Thankful for" post tomorrow.  Until then...

The end of the cleanse.

So I didn't make it to the end.  I gave up on day 6.  I just didn't want to do it anymore and there was no reason to continue except to say that I did it.  And you know what?  It felt good to "quit".  I got what I wanted out of it anyway.  I wanted a jump start on my diet.  And that is what I got.

I remembered what it was like to eat really healthy foods.
I remembered what it was like to really feel hungry again.
And I remembered what it was like to eat fruit and to taste how sweet that fruit could be.

All in all, I feel successful, even if I didn't finish.

And that steak and cheese with peppers, onions, and mushrooms tasted really really really good last Friday. :)

Brussel Sprouts

Did you know that I like brussel sprouts?

I didn't know I liked brussel sprouts.  But apparently I do!  Growing up we didn't eat weird vegetables like brussel sprouts, cauliflower or broccoli.  (I know, these are not weird vegetables.)  We ate carrots, peas, corn, green beans, wax beans and on occasion, spinach.  All from a can.  I will have to let a family member correct me if I am wrong, but those were the ones I could remember off the top of my head while I write this blog post on the fly. :)

So why am I eating brussel sprouts? (by the way, I was having much difficulty trying to find the right spelling of this vegetable, PLEASE correct me if I am wrong.  I even looked it up on dictionary.com and they couldn't find it. odd.)

I am eating them as part of my cleanse diet for 10 days.  I am doing this cleanse not as a way to lose weight, but as a way to rid my body of toxins and to start with a "clean slate" for my diet.  The diet will be the real way I am going to eat to lose weight, which will be pretty much exactly what I did before but with less cheating.  Less cheating because I am not working out as hard as I used to and I don't see myself working out harder in the foreseeable future.  I just can't afford (time or money) to go back to kickboxing. :(

I do miss kickboxing.  sigh.

So anyway, I am doing this cleanse.  I am doing this with the guidance of my health counselor that I worked with before.  We started with a webinar that explained why we were doing this and it was basically a 2 hour biology lesson.  The cleanse consists of supplements and protein shakes (to make up for what we are missing) and slowly removing foods from your normal diet.  Then we have three really strict tough days (hence the brussel sprouts) and then we slowly add foods back in.  The whole process takes 10 days.

Multiple things can happen during this cleanse.  Some people feel lethargic and get headaches.  Some people get more energetic and feel great.  I can report that I have felt both!  What does this mean?  It means that I had some toxins I needed to get rid of (headaches, probably from the non-real food I had been eating) and that I may have some food intolerance (why I feel great now that I am not eating them).

I am not surprised by this.  With my food allergies there is always a possibility that a food in my diet would not be tolerated by my body.  And with all the junk food and processed crap I had been eating, well, there would be my toxins.   So I feel great, today is day 5....only 5 more days to go.  And only 2 more days of the "strictest" part of the diet.

Send me a note if you want more info, I can send you in the direction of my health counselor.  Want to cleanse on your own?  Check out Dr. Oz's website for some great information for yourself.

Or just try day 1, cut out alcohol, sugar, fake sweeteners and all packaged and processed foods.  Bet you will feel better.  And I bet you will lose weight.

On day 1 you also have to cut out any "flesh" foods.  Meat, poultry, fish, etc.  I didn't suggest that because I am a carnivore.  And I want a burger really bad right now. :)

Who am I kidding?

I'm not writing.  We are officially half-way through the month, and it's just not happening.  I'll give it another try some other time. :)

Guess what today is?  It's Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day!  No joke!  I found this quite amusing as I cleaned out the fridge at work just last Friday.  It was quite gross.  There were a few science experiments in there.  I don't think it had been cleaned in at least a year and it really needed it before I went on maternity leave.  Seven months ago.  So I took it upon myself to get the job done.  And now it is clean and beautiful.

Anthony and I also cleaned out our refrigerator at home during our power outage.  It looks brand new. :)
So now you know what to do to clean up and burn some calories today, get cleaning!

Speaking of cleaning and calorie burning....well, calorie burning.

How goes my weight loss?  Well, only one pound down, but I have definitely built muscle as I am getting a lot stronger.  But what I really want to talk about is the cleanse I am doing at the moment. Cleanse?  Yep, cleansing out the bad stuff.  Don't worry, it's healthy, includes lots of fruits and vegetables (including some I have never had before).  I wouldn't be able to do any of those crazy cayenne pepper, maple syrup, lemon juice thingies.  No hard feelings if you have done it and liked it, but that would not be something I could do.

This cleanse is for clearing the body of toxins, almost like starting with a clean slate.  Which is great, because I really need to "start over" on my diet to lose weight.  I spent a year needing to eat loads of calories to grow a baby and provide milk, now I need to remember what it was like to lose weight again.

I will tell you all about it tomorrow.

I want to share!

So yeah...still blogging...and not writing.

But I have a good excuse!  Remember before when I wrote about my weight loss, I discussed the BodyBugg and how much it helped me?
See the post here:  http://danidoit.blogspot.com/2010/07/bodybugg.html

Well, not everyone can afford the BodyBugg.  It isn't cheap.  And well, I miss mine.  Where did it go?  I have let someone borrow it for their own weight loss battle.  I'm hoping it will help them out, as it helped me so much.

But...like I said.  I miss it.  And then I heard about this product:
http://www.s2h.com/

What is it?
It's a watch, sort of. It's called the S2H Replay.  You wear and it rewards you for exercise.  What kind of reward?  Well, you get codes that you can use at your favorite merchants, like Amazon.com. Or Walmart.  Or Macys.  They have a pedometer than you can use as well.

So I decided to get the wristband.

Why?

Because I got an incredibly good deal.  And you can too!  (do I sound like an informercial yet?)
Make sure you check this out before November 23rd.  (don't worry, I'll remind you....I think, unless I start writing.)

Parents Magazine has one of those "daily deals" type things where you can get one at 50% off!  Only $12.50.  I thought for that price it was worth it to check it out.  I could easily spend more money than that on junk food.  I should warn you that shipping was not cheap, about $6.33 for myself.

Here is the link to the Parents deal:
http://deals.parents.com/deal/4022/1250-dollars-for-one-s2h-replay?cmd=share

So how can you thank me for showing you such a neat product and cool deal?   You can use this link to purchase your S2H Replay, it will help me earn some free points!  THANK YOU! :)

Not blogging is hard!

Okay, so the writing thing is not going well.  Like, at all.  Not writing.  Not a single bit.  I have stories in my head, but when I look at the screen, it just sits there, blank.

I really really really just want to blog instead.  So I will give it a few more days and see if I give up and come back to blogging.  It does seem strange to not tell you about my weekend or to not discuss the latest things about my battle to lose weight.

Does anyone miss my postings? :)

In the meantime, help me, help a friend!  (pretty please?  with sugar and a cherry on top?)
Go to:
http://www.realfarmwivesofamerica.com/2011/11/give-hoot-and-vote-for-these-boots.html

And vote for my friend Marybeth.  Her blog is Alarm Clock Wars and she wants to win a fancy pair of cowboy boots.  Please go and vote for her, she NEEDS new boots.  Like badly.  :)  You can also go to her blog and read about why she wants new boots:

THANK YOU! :)

Two days...no posts.

Okay, so I'm posting today.  But it really doesn't count.
Well, maybe it does.
I'm only posting today to let you know that instead of posting blog posts this month, I am going to write instead.  I originally got into blogging as a writing exercise so that I would someday finish my stories in my head.  So instead of dedicating time to blog posts, I'm going to use that same time to dedicate to my writing.

That is because it is National Novel Writing Month.  http://www.nanowrimo.org/

I will try to check in periodically.

See you at the end of the month!
Wish me luck...I have tried this a few years in a row and have never been successful...haha.

No More Fodder

We got our power back last night!

We didn't even notice at first that the power had returned.  Anthony was outside when he noticed that he could see his shadow (the outside light had come on) and he opened the door and said something to me about the power.  That's when I said "I was wondering what that humming noise was!"  (it was the fridge!)

When we got home from work last night we set out to saving as much of our food as we could.  A lot of stuff in our fridge and a few things in our freezer were given the boot.  Everything in our deep freezer stayed frozen!  (we didn't dare open that up until we got the power back!)  And now our fridge is nice and bright and shiny, because once the power came on and we could see again, we cleaned the you know what out of that fridge and freezer.  We figured we might as well, how often will it be empty anyway?  It now looks brand new!

So last night was Halloween.  Our town has moved it's festivities to next Sunday, which I think is GREAT.  Most (if not all!) should have their power back by then, and I feel like we get to spread out the Halloween celebrating just a little bit longer.  Which means I can dress Zoe in her Halloween outfits for the rest of the week and maybe go find some Halloween things at nice discounts.  But since we got our power back last night AND it was the last day of the month....we had to get our giant 75 pound pumpkin out for Zoe's 7 month old picture.  And oh yeah, we had to carve it and display our jack o' lantern as well. :)

Here it is, I think Anthony is very proud of this pumpkin.

And before we carved a face into it, we did do a picture with Zoe inside of it.

She tolerated the pumpkin long enough for us to get a few pictures.  I have cuter ones than these, again ask me for the website info if you want to see more!

Happy All Saint's Day everyone!
