It's June...and school is almost out. And even though I work through the summer, something about this time of year just still feels like summer vacation.
And with that....a new summer reading list!
I'm trying something different this year. Usually I find a bunch of books that are on my "must read" wish list. Usually a new author, or the next or final book in a series. This year...I'm going to work on just one series.
I have two kids now and I just don't have as much time to read. And this genre is one that is a bit harder for me. I don't normally read fantasy and so my normal speed reading will be slowed down. I just don't fly through these books like I would a romance or young adult series.
I've decided to tackle the Game of Thrones series by George R.R. Martin. I've been watching the HBO show with my husband and so I decided I'll give the books a try after many recommendations from friends. Based upon how far into the first book I am...it will probably take me all summer to read all five books that are currently out. (I started last Wednesday and I'm on page 118. That is how slowly I am reading this book....and how much free time I have to read the book!)
Want to follow along? I've started with the first one, Game of Thrones.
The books in order are:
A Game of Thrones
A Clash of Kings
A Storm of Swords
A Feast for Crows
A Dance with Dragons
The last two books are not released yet. Now....what if I all of a sudden fly through the books? What if I reach the end of summer and my final camping trip and I have no books to read? Please feel free to leave some more summer reading suggestions for me in the comments and I'll consider it for this year or next year.
